Block Breaking

Well… That was a week.

My middle-grade monster academia moved along just fine, but its young adult siblings. Yeah. No. I introduced the protagonist’s love interest in the dark urban fantasy, and then my brain went completely blank on what to write next. Then, instead of accepting that nothing was coming to me and jumping over to the contemporary drama to work on that, I just sat here, staring at the screen for hours on end. ‘Cause, y’know, that’s such a productive use of time…

Fortunately, I think, think the creative block broke last night. It remains to be seen how far I’ll get, but I hope to at least make my daily writing goal for today. I highly doubt I’ll make up lost pages at this point though. C’est la vie.

If my weekend wasn’t already so booked, I’d be tempted to log some work, but that just isn’t going to happen. It looks like autumn has finally arrived in full force. There’s a ton of stuff to do outside ahead of winter. Yard work, cleaning up the garden beds, bagging up soil, mulching, a sun porch needing addressed, and on top of that, someone (see: me) has to play plumber, too. At least the weather will make dividing the tasks easy. Outside on Saturday with sunny skies and 70s for the high. Inside on Sunday with highs in the 60s and rain all day.

While I’m at it, I think I’m going to make life a little easier on future me. I’m planning a few new planting projects for spring. No sense in not setting myself up ahead of time by laying down gardening tarp to speed things up next year.

Of course, there’s also the big project that I keep putting off: a cypress that needs to go. I’ve been saying I’ll get rid of it come fall for the past 3 years. This is the year it goes. Yay, free mulch?

Off to it. This will be the last weekly titled blog post. Only special posts will be from now on. See you next week.
