Spooky Season 2026!

Hello and welcome to Spooky Season 2026! We’ve finally arrived in my favorite season, my favorite month, and my favorite holiday is on the horizon. Normally, I would post on Thursday, but I’m just too excited. I woke up plotting movie nights, outfits, and outings all month long. The flannels are out, Hubie Halloween is waiting on Netflix to kick things off tonight, and I’m eyeing a trip to the corn maze and farm already.

October, you can no doubt tell, is the busiest of the busy months for me. No exaggeration, we have at least 1 birthday per week, every week all month long (including mine!), and then we cap the whole month off with Samhain. Throw in a convention in the middle of that, which I might have a few copies of The Origami Earth and The Secret of Hidden Creek at, and I barely have time to breathe between the 1st and the 31st.

The best part is that this is when my creative batteries come back online. Summer is always a slog for me. I barely want to function once the temperatures climb into the 80s and the humidity requires swim lessons. So, naturally, summer decided it wanted one last gasp today with a high in the mid 80s forecasted. Not going to lie, sometimes I wonder if I have summer-pattern seasonal affective disorder. But I digress.

The creative spark has been burning bright the past several days, and now I find myself bouncing off the walls, ready to write and produce content. I’ve been hitting my writing goals all week long. I’m shifting my focus on the dark YA urban fantasy to March as a hard launch while still holding out hope for February. I’m dead set on 2 releases on June 1st to kick off Pride Month, one of which, the contemporary YA, is starting to burn hot creatively, and the other, The Origami Earth: TBA, is already nearly ¼ complete and just waiting for me to get back to it. Yes, it has a subtitle. No, I’m not revealing it yet. My middle school spooky fun monster academia is closing on half complete, but with a view to release it in October 2027, it’s my least concern right now.

I’m loving the characters again. It’s not just a, “here we go again,” mechanical end of things. With any luck, I should be crossing at least the halfway point with every project by the end of the month. And honestly, all three are well on their way.

But now I’m just burning time on this blog that could be better spent in the manuscripts!

Busy season. Spooky season. Spooky busy season!
